The iconic Mazda MX-5 Miata two-seater roadster will receive a ‘Race’ package this autumn paving the way for a MazdaSpeed edition in mid 2008. This will most likely be powered by the turbocharged 2.3-litre four-pot that currently resides in the Mazdaspeed3 although losing some horsepower in packaging the intercooler and larger radiator.
A full redesign for the MX5 is planned for the 2010 model year when this convertible must comply to the new US 2011 rear-offset collision standards.
