The John Cooper Works Mini Convertible gets the classic name and the performance upgrades to match. The power increase pushes the limits of what a small front wheel drive car can handle, but this just makes the Mini more entertaining and characterful.
The stiff chassis of this Mini shines through and is nicely responsive, filling the driver with confidence that when the when the tyres begin to hunt for traction you will be able to wrestle it back and keep it under control. When you want to drive less spiritedly the JCW Convertible is happy to quietly cruise and does so with respectable fuel economy but you can always feel the car’s eagerness there, waiting to break free and have fun.
The price increase over the standard Mini Cooper S is quite high (nearly 20%) for the fairly moderate performance gains but for those who value it, there is no contest and only the Mini John Cooper Works Convertible is worth considering.
