The Maserati GranCabrio MC (GranTourismo MC Convertible in the US) is the convertible equivalent of the high-performance GranTurismo MC Stradale coupe. It features a more aggressive styling package as well as engine and chassis enhancements. In Sport mode, the MC does its best to feel like a supercar but it also has the long legs to be refined when cruising. The chassis comes from the Quattroporte saloon and although the handling makes it feels surprisingly nimble it can’t completely hide that the GranCabrio remains a big, heavy car.
The engine has been tuned to squeeze out further performance and the sound it makes particularly at high revs is wonderfully tuneful. The interior is updated with leather and Alcantara to give a more sporty feel, with figure-hugging seats and a low seating position. The rear seats remain and while they are large for a car of this type, are uncomfortable for large adults on longer runs.
I have owned, and still own many Ferraris, Jaguars, Porsches and Maseratis over the last 20 years and the Grancabrio MC is the best car I have ever owned.
