The Citroen DS3 Cabrio moves away from the now common retro-styled small car with a modern and unique style of its own. The hatchback had already proved a success with 200,000 cars sold even before the convertible went on sale. The DS3’s clever use of interior space means that not only does it have great luggage space but also that rare thing in convertible – seating for five.
The DSign trim includes an impressive level of standard equipment including stability control, cruise control, parking sensors, front fog lamps, LED rear lights and electric power windows mirrors and roof.
A wide range of styling options allow each car to be individual. There is even a choice of 3 different roof fabrics. The roof itself is power operated and folds down and back up again in just 16 seconds at speeds up to 75 mph.
With the 82 horsepower, 1.2 litre engine the entry level Citroen DS3 Cabrio is the most economical car in the range not only in purchase price but also with its frugal use of petrol. The down-side is rather pedestrian acceleration on the open road, but if you're doing most of your driving around town this probably won't trouble you.
The familiar BMW 1.6 litre engine works well in the Citroen DS3 Cabriolet. The peppy little engine also found in the Mini and several Peugeots is a good performer and very reliable. In the DS3 VTi 120 it comes in at 120 horsepower form which makes the most of the car's great chassis. This DS3 is fun to drive and yet retains a good level of fuel economy. The responsive steering gives good feedback on twisty roads while the suspension smooths out the bumps for a refined ride during high-speed cruising.
As the performance model in the range, the Citroen DS3 Cabrio THP 155 does not disappoint. With a turbo-charged version of the 1.6 BMW engine providing 155 horsepower to the responsive chassis, it will be easy to find a reason to smile. You'll even keep that smile when you visit the petrol pumps as it can manage an impressive 47.9 mpg, if you can manage not to put your foot down too much. The DS3 is an alternative to the ubiquitous Mini and is an equal when it comes to driving satisfaction. The modern styling has many fans who are looking for something different while the interior is equally impressive with a premium quality feel.A leather interior comes as standard with the DSport spec along with 17 inch 'Bellone' alloy wheels and a carbon fibre effect dashboard.
