BMW made us wait four years from the initial release of the i8 coupe until the convertible version finally arrived in showrooms. Nevermind though, it was worth the wait. The BMW i8 Convertible remains cutting edge and the revised styling looks even more futuristic than the original car.
Hybrid power and some very clever engineering mean that this super-sports-car is both fast and economical. Emissions are lower than most tiny city cars. The latest battery technology means that this convertible can cover 30 miles on electric charge alone and power output combined with the petrol engine is now up to 374bhp. There may be faster cars out there but few are as clever or as likely to make you feel like you are driving something from the future.
The small fabric roof folds away very neatly and doesn’t affect the already small luggage space.
