The third generation Audi TT Roadster sees a new more aggressive edge to the compact design. Unlike the first generation car this one is a serious performer, even with the entry-level 1.8-litre petrol engine. Audi has come up with a roadster that is great fun to drive and with a forgiving nature. Sadly the price has moved up a level but the TT still looks like value for money. If you want a serious driver’s car, the Porsche Boxster is a tempting alternative to the more expensive models but the TT is a better all-rounder.
The interior is packed with technology, particularly in the higher specification models. The design cleverly packs it all in without cluttering the dashboard with buttons and knobs. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Display makes the whole instrument binnacle and LCD screen which can display all kinds of information, including entertainment details and navigation maps. The Audi TT Roadster comes with a fabric roof once again, now upgraded to 3 layers of insulating acoustic cloth which reduces noise by 6dB.
