Audi’s four seat V8 powered Audi RS5 Cabriolet is an aural delight and a very accomplished road car. The updated Quattro system means that grip is almost endless despite the huge amounts of power available. The RS5 Cabriolet is a heavy car and suffers from Audi’s common problem of a lack of steering feedback but drive it hard and you will find it is extremely capable. It sticks to the road far beyond the level most people’s courage runs out.
The soft-top RS5 is a good looking car too but not one that shouts for attention or feels risky to park in public. It could almost blend in until you start it up and people look around as the musical V8 starts to purr. It will scream its way to 8500rpm by which time you have everyone’s attention. With the revs high you can make the most if this fabulous engine and with the roof down you can hear it at its best. The RS5 is not only quicker than the S5 it is also less laid back and really requires driver input to get the most out of it.
The price is high, but this is a genuine 4-seat convertible car that can be used every day but has supercar performance and huge character.
