With the Audi TT RS Roadster, the German Brand’s compact sports car has come a long way. When the model first appeared it was more of a styling exercise than a performance car. Over time the TT has moved away from being little more than a re-bodied VW Golf and now with the TT RS it is a proper performance car.
Audi has two tiers to the performance range of cars. The S models are highly specified versions of the standard car with all the luxuries and performance you are likely to ever need. The RS models are re-engineered to create a car that is as fast and capable as possible. For example, the 5-cylinder engine produces close to 400 bhp so, despite the slightly porky weight, the TT RS has performance figures to shame some supercars.
The handling is much improved over previous TTs. A supremely capable all-wheel-drive chassis makes the TT RS Roadster easy to drive fast down a winding road. The steering is direct and decisive, cornering flat through the fastest of bends. It may not have Porsche precision but it is hugely confidence inspiring. In the Audi tradition, the TT RS is secure and predictable at speed rather than offering delicacy and tactile driver feedback.
As you may expect, the TT RS has a beautifully finished sporting interior that is very pleasant to be in. The 12.3in Virtual Cockpit full LCD instrument display is great for driver control though pushes out the passenger from fiddling with the hi-fi or navigation.
Depending on how you option your Audi TT RS Roadster, it can be either a flashy statement car or a subtle Q-car avoiding unwanted attention.
