Producer of large all-terrain and military vehicles Hummer have produced this concept to gauge whether it can tap into the long established Jeep Wrangler market.
The design is clearly part of the Hummer family but the HX has a modular roof panel arrangement which gives options ranging from a convertible layout to a fastback coupe in the style of the new BMW X6.
The 3.6 litre V6 engine powers all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and front and rear locking differentials. All that should mean that the HX is a capable off-roader while the youthful styling would attract those living the California lifestyle.
The Hummer HX makes its debut at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit today.
