Smart have released details of their ForTwo BRABUS Convertible model which is due to be launched at the September Frankfurt auto show.
The new 72 kW/98 bhp three cylinder turbo powered BRABUS will have 30% more power than the previous model while still maintaining low fuel consumption figures.
The sporty character of the new smart ForTwo BRABUS is apparent at first glance. It comes with “Monoblock VI” alloy wheels with wide tyres, wider rear wheel arches, a sports exhaust system with centrally positioned dual tailpipes. Suspension is lowered and set up to give a more sporty feel. In the interior, cockpit instruments with specially designed dials, BRABUS stainless steel sports pedals and a new BRABUS leather steering wheel with shift paddles continue the theme.
The BRABUS Xclusive lives up to its name with additional equipment details such as H7 projection headlamps, a front spoiler with enlarged air inlets, side skirts and a special rear apron. The seats are upholstered with fine leather, heated, and feature head/thorax side airbags as standard.
At the heart of the new smart fortwo BRABUS is a turbo engine with electronically controlled fuel injection that has been improved in numerous details. From capacity of one litre the three-cylinder engine now develops 72 kW/98 bhp at 5500 rpm, lends the 780 kilogram two-door car remarkable agility and takes it from zero to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds The BRABUS ForTwo has an electronically limited top speed of 155 km/h.
It is going on sale in Germany at a price of € 19,430 for the standard BRABUS ForTwo Cabrio and € 22,430 for the Xclusive BRABUS ForTwo Cabrio.

Well then…as sporty and as attactive as they’ve tried to make it, the Smart is never going to be the next Ferrari. Whilst us mere mortals would never be able to drive one though, some lingerie company is giving away the chance to drive a F355 round Silverstone.
