2007 will see a new selection of convertibles hitting our roads. Here we preview some of the new cars we get to look forward to:
Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster
The highly successful Aston Martin Vantage range is being expanded to include a Roadster model. This most desirable of cars is said to have performance figures equal to the coupe though the price tag will be higher.
Audi TT Roadster
If it is anything like the coupe, the new Audi TT Roadster will be the sportscar that the old model always promised to be. The styling is less individual than the previous TT but unlike the coupe, that is no bad thing. The original suffered from slightly cartoon proportions whereas this car is far more elegant. The build quality and interior should be fantastic and either engine in the range will give plenty of power.
BMW 3-Series Convertible
BMW’s market leading 3 Series Convertible leaps forward with a new folding hardtop. Styling is elegant rather than sporting and the car is bigger than ever before giving excellent rear seat passenger space. If this car has a chassis as rigid as previous models it will be harder than ever to find a reason to buy the coupe. It’s due to hit our streets in the spring of 2007.
Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet
Hot on the heals of VW’s Eos, the Focus Coupe Cabriolet is well equipped and intelligently designed. The engines aren’t sporting enough to make this a really fun car but the handling is very capable and the ride is quiet and refined.
Peugeot 207 Coupe Cabriolet
The 207CC builds on the success of the old 206CC. It’s certainly well equipped with air conditioning, sports seats and 5 airbags. This will surely be a very popular car and should keep Peugeot on the top spot for sales of compact convertibles for the next few years.
Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe
Rolls-Royce have kept to their values of excellence for the super-rich with their latest convertible offering. The Drophead Coupe is based on the Phantom sedan but the styling is all new. It has many individual features and you can expect quality to be impeccable.
