Mercedes Benz have revealed their new SL model, due to reach showrooms in the Spring. Most noticeable is the new more aggressive styling. The wider front radiator grille with it’s single horizontal louvre and twin bonnet bulges draw inspiration from the SLs 50 year history, while the new headlamps, which are drawn deeply into the flanks, further emphasis the impression of breadth at the front end.
At the rear of the new-generation SL the more sporty styling continues with a diffuser-style bumper and reshaped exhaust tailpipes.
The base model SL 350 receives a sporty new high revving engine giving not only a boost in power up from 245hp to 315hp but also a small improvement in fuel economy. This reduction in fuel consumption is carried through to the larger engined SL 500 and SL 600 giving a 3% improvement.
Also among the many new additions is the option of a direct-steer system which provides more responsive handling by variably adjusting the steering rack ratio.
