The Mazda MX5 Miata Roadster Coupé is the latest incarnation with the option of a beautifully simple folding hardtop which neither ruins the pretty lines of the car or blunts performance with added weight. The top is plastic rather than metal but it is still sturdy and offers a secure solution. It folds away very neatly leaving no less luggage space than the soft-top. It sells at a premium over the standard roadster but many will consider it worth the expense.
In 2009 The Mazda MX5 Miata Roadster Coupé received cosmetic updates including the latest Mazda family grinning front grill.
Mazda's 1.8 litre engine is smooth but lacks the punch of the 2 litre The 1.8 Mazda Mx5 Miata is still a hoot to drive though but we'd find the extra cash for the bigger engine.
The 2 litre Mazda MX5 is a cracking good car and the folding hardtop just makes it even more useable. There's plenty of power and the drive is an absolute pleasure.
The 2 litre Mazda MX5 Sport Tech is the top of the range car with the best engine and a 6 speed gearbox. This one even has the folding hardtop. The additions are really only icing on the top of an already lovely cake. Purists may even call them unnecessary as the driving experience isn't any better for their presence. The Powershift gearbox is a tiptronic style automatic with paddle shifters rather than a full sequential automated manual transmission. It works well but is less involving to drive as the manual and looses the some of the purity of the roadster.
